Washington: It seems like Mel Gibson’s ‘Lethal Weapon’ is making a comeback to the big screen.
According to Deadline, Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Richard Donner are all said to be considering the possibility of making a fifth film in the popular franchise, which would be a follow up to 1998 movie ‘Lethal Weapon 4’.
If the project moves forward, Donner would direct the new motion picture and Channing Gibson – who wrote the fourth script – is being lined up to reprise his role for the new project.
Warner Bros., the studio that put out the franchise’s other films, was reportedly slated to sign on to the next movie.
The first film, released in 1987, followed Glover, a veteran cop, partnered with a younger, daring officer, Gibson, who work together to solve crime.
The movie went on to gross more than USD 156 million and spawn three successful sequels.
The last ‘Lethal Weapon’ movie came in 1998. Chris Rock and Jet Li appeared in ‘Lethal Weapon 4’ alongside Gibson, Glover, Pesci, Russo and Love.
The films also led to a television series named after the franchise. (ANI)
