Srinagar, July 19: A top commander of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit was today killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, officials said.
Self-styled Divisional Commander of LeT Abu Zarar, a Pakistani national, was killed in the gunbattle with a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at village Garoora, 50 kms from here, they said.
The gunbattle started last night when security forces, acting on a tip off, cordoned off the village to flush out hiding militants.
An AK rifle and some ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain militant, they added.
