Commenting on the Maharashtra Government’s decision to allot land in Andheri’s Ambivli area to actor Hema Malini’s dance academy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said let all the facts come out, as whatever has been done keeping in mind the rules.
“I am sure it has been done by keeping in mind the rules. It’s also possible that such kind of grants or such kind of land at subsidised rate is given to artistes to promote art, and Hema ji in my opinion would not be the first such example, I am sure there will be many other examples who have received land to promote the arts,” said BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli.
Hema Malini’s plans to start a dance academy on a plot of land in Mumbai’s Andheri area have been described by an RTI activist as “land-grabbing”.
The Maharashtra Government allotted a 2,000-square-metre plot in the heart of Mumbai to BJP member Hema Malini, a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and a Parliamentarian from Uttar Pradesh.
As per documents obtained by Right to Information (RTI) activist Anil Galgali, Hema Malini was allotted the plot worth crores of rupees for just Rs. 70,000. The land is worth at least Rs. 50 crore, according to some estimates. (ANI)
