New Delhi : A Delhi court on Saturday discharged Lashkar-e-Taiba bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda in fourth and final case against him by the Delhi Police.
Advocate MS Khan, appearing for Tunda, said that the mastermind was discharged today in a 1998 case, in which two people were arrested with explosives and the probe revealed that Tunda was behind it.
“This case pertains to arrests made on 1998, in which two persons were arrested by Inter State Cell when they were working on blasts that took place in the county. On tip-off from these arrests, 18 more were arrested. During the investigation it was revealed that the mastermind of these blasts was Abdul Karim Tunda, who did this to take revenge of Babri Masjid demolition,” Khan told ANI.
“Before this there a case of a blast in Karol Bagh, another in Sadar Bazaar, then another was a TADA case of Malviya Nagar blast, Tunda has already been discharged in these cases,” he added.
The cases in which Tunda was earlier discharged pertains to a blast in Karol Bagh on October 28, 1997 and two blasts in Sadar Bazaar on October 1, 1997.
In the Karol Bagh blast case, one person was killed while several others were injured and a bomb was also recovered by the police.
In the Sadar Bazar blasts, two bombs exploded in which several persons were injured.
Tunda was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on August 16, 2013 from the Indo-Nepal border.
The Delhi Police has named Tunda as an accused 21 terror cases and claims that his role was also to provoke Muslim youth and to train them to make IED. He is known to be an expert in the making of bombs with the help of Uria nitric acid, and other chemicals.
In 2008, India had sent a list of most wanted terrorists to Pakistan which included the name of Tunda. (ANI)
