Leopard rescued

The forest department officials in Ranga Reddy distritc has rescued a leopard, which was caught in a trap set up by the villagers for wild boars.

The wounded leopard was anesthetize and shifted to Nehru Zoological Park for medical treatment..
S. Narendar Reddy Divisional Forest Officer , Mahbubnagar said, “A male leopard, aged about five-six years, was trapped in an area along the Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar border.

However the revenue district comes under Chakalapally village in Kulkacharla mandal, the forest area is in Hanvada mandal of Mahbubnagar range.

The area is positioned near the Gangaram Reserve Forest block, from which the wild animal go astray into the agriculture fields near the village.

Narendar Reddy, Divisional Forest Officer ,said that “the Reserve forest serve as a good habitation for leopards. According to reports, 15 days ago, a cattle was killed by the leopard. We are ready to compensate for the cattle.”
V. Mahendar Mahbubnagar Forest Range Officer said, “, we received a call around 8 am from Chakalapally residents. They informed about a leopard caught in a snare made of motor vehicle clutch wire. We took police help to deal with the crowd of at least 2,000 people who had gathered there.”

A. Shankaran, the outgoing curator of Nehru Zoological Park, said, an eight-member team was sent to the spot with a rescue vehicle soon after receiving the information. M.A. Hakeem, Veterinary doctor and his team anesthetized the animal and cut the snare wires and shift the animal into the cage of the rescue van. Subsequently, a revival injection was given to it.

As there are no major external injuries, but there were internal injuries. Doctors are checking for internal hemorrhages.”
