Hyderabad: A leopard is on the prowl near Yacharam 50 km away from the city, in the Ranga Reddy district.
As reported by Deccan Chronicle, the beast which had killed and partly devoured a calf on Friday night came back to the spot on Saturday night to feed on its kill. This leopard was caught on camera trap that was installed by the forest officials at the spot.
The villagers residing in the hamlets nearby are on the edge.
The leopard attacked two calves on Friday night. It is suspected that more than one leopard are being on the move.
The leopard that had apparently eaten a small portion of the flesh and left the remaining at the site, returned to the same spot on Saturday night to feed on its prey. Its pugmarks were found by the officials near the carcass of the animal.
According to Amangal Forest Divisional Officer (FDO) Mr M. Janakiram, they had installed two camera traps near its prey. As expected the carnivore came back to feed on its prey and got captured on the camera.
The forest department has already put up three trap cages at the site, and have ordered another two traps to confine the feline. This is said to be the leopard’s eighth attack.
