Bhopal, April 27: A leopard today strayed into an area close to a tourist spot here and attacked three Forest Department staffers before being captured, Zoo officials said.
The spotted animal, which injured three Forest Department employees while being captured, was later netted and put in the Van Vihar Zoo here.
“After the mammal was netted, it was tranquilised and brought to the zoo. We are going to release it in the forest soon,” Van Vihar Assistant Director A K Khare told PTI.
“The leopard doesn’t belong to our zoo,” he said.
The wild animal strayed from a nearby forest and was spotted close to the upper lake boundary – 100 metres away from a boat club frequented by tourists – in the morning.
As soon as the Forest Department officials were informed, they swung into action.
