Lenient marking on account on ‘T’ agitation

Hyderabad, May 01: Lenient marking by evaluators of Intermediate II Year papers in view of the agitations that hit teaching schedules across the State, helped students record their best performance in the last three years.

Releasing the results in the city today, School Education Minister D Manikya Vara Prasad declared that this year the pass percentage was 64.69 per cent. And, as in the case of I Year examinations, girl students outdid boys.
“Because of various disturbances in the State, the marking of answer sheets was liberal,’’ Vara Prasad said when reporters asked him whether the separate Telangana agitation had influenced the result.

Last year, the total pass percentage was 60.15 per cent.
Some of toppers in the State under the MPC stream are Naga Mounica with 989 marks, S Bala Naga Kishore 987, F Neha 986, Amtul Nazneen 985 marks, Asif Ahmed 985 and Santoshi 985.
In the BiPC stream N Kiranmayee scored 985 marks, P Swetha 983, KSL Sruthi 982 marks, Madhuri 983, Prathiba 980 and Amula Reddy 980.
Officials stressed that the performance of candidates from Government schools had improved remarkably — from last year’s 48.89 per cent passes to 61.48 per cent this year.

In aided colleges, the pass percentage this year was 56.35 per cent, with Krishna district at 77 per cent topping the 23 districts and Anantapur district plumbing the bottom at 53 per cent. Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts registered 65 and 73 per cent respectively.
Commissioner of Collegiate Education Lav Agarwal said that districts like Adilabad, Chittoor, Nizamabad, Warangal, Mahaboobnagar and Krishna had seen marked gains in performance over last year.

The Intermediate advanced supplementary examinations will be held from June 2 and the last date for payment of fee is May 7.

Earlier, members of the Students Federation of India (SFI) obstructed the minister’s convoy from entering the Intermediate Board premises at Nampally in protest against the Government’s decision to hike improvement examination fee.
