The CPI and CPI (M) leaders on Thursday moved adjournment motion demanding discussion on Railway Budget 2012-13.
CPI Floor Leader C Seetaramulu termed the railway Budget as `not useful’ for the State. Stating that no new projects have been sanctioned in the Budget, he said that this time too the State has suffered a major injustice. He ridiculed Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi’s speech that the state government has agreed to provide two-third of funds for the completion of MMTS phase II.
Seetaramulu said that only Rs 65 crore were given by Andhra Pradesh government to a project costing Rs 632 crores. And if we go by figures, then the project will take decades to get completed, he said.
However, Council Chairman A Chakrapani rejected the motion and said that the budget was placed in the Parliament and it would be appropriate to seek discussion on the same in the Rajya Sabha.
Minister for Municipal Administration M Mahidhar Reddy refuted the allegation that the State Government has allocated meager allocations for MMTS phase II. He said that the government was ready to release funds in a phased manner till the completion of the project. (INN)
