Legal battle for protection of wakf land accelerated

Hyderabad: Telangana State Wakf Board has decided to change the lawyers in order to accelerate the legal battle for the protection of wakf land belonging to Dargah Hazrat Husain Shah Wali.

Mr. A.K. Khan, Advisor to Govt. on wakf issues convened a review meeting yesterday. Chairman of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Asadullah and lady member of Wakf Board, Ms. Sofia Begum attended the meeting.

The case of wakf land which is pending with the Supreme Court was reviewed. Various proposals were approved which would be presented in the meeting of the Wakf Board for getting sanctioned. It was decided to contact the advocates who are pleading the case in order to get the details. It may be mentioned that the hearing of the case was scheduled in Supreme Court last month but at the request of advocates of private company, its hearing was adjourned for 8 weeks. Due to this, the construction of Islamic center in Manikonda was delayed.
