Left parties protest against ‘intolerance’ in Parliament

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing debate in the Lok Sabha over rising intolerance in the country, the Left parties on Tuesday staged a protest in the Parliament complex over the issue.

Several prominent Left front leaders such as CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and CPI leaders D. Raja took part in the protest.

The leaders raised slogans such as “stop exploiting public in the name of religion” and ‘Down Down Communalism’. They also carried placards with messages such as “stop violence and spreading communal polarisation in the country” and “don’t divide the people on the basis of religion”.

The Lok Sabha yesterday took up a discussion on growing intolerance in the country. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had urged the members to discuss the matter constructively in a peaceful manner.

The Congress had yesterday criticised the BJP-led NDA Government over growing intolerance and said it is the biggest threat to the nation. (ANI)
