Left parties oppose power tariff hike

The public hearing on the proposed power tariff hike had witnessed strong protests from the left parties and other social organizations.

While 10 left parties stormed FAPCCI office even as the discussion was taking place, the representatives have opposed the proposal tooth and hike. The left parties said the public hearing was bogus and the State Electricity Regulatory Authority was not autonomous but was a tool in the hands of the State Government.

CPM State Secretary BV Raghavulu said that the Government was increasing the power tariff only to benefit some private players. “We opposed the proposal of power hike tooth and nail,” he said.

The public hearing witnessed uproarious scenes elsewhere also. (INN)
