LECs to tenant farmers from July 10

Hyderabad, July 06: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is expected to release the Loan Eligibility Cards to the tenant farmers on July 10 following a formal inaugural function to be held on that day.

So far six lakh applications have been received from all districts. West Godavari district tops in the number of applications received from tenant farmers.

At a video conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Joint Collectors, Joint Directors and other top Revenue officials have been briefed about the modalities to be followed in respect of issue of the Loan Eligibility Cards to the tenant farmers.

Out of six lakh applications received, 3 lakh applicants have been found to be eligible and about 70,000 have been found ineligible so far. Meanwhile, another 2.5 lakh applications are being processed.

As many as 15,623 gram sabhas were conducted in over 28,249 villages as part of the programme to hold enquiries regarding the applications.

Agriculture Principal Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, in an exclusive conversation with INN here today, said that efforts were being made to finalise the data and prepare material for issue of the Loan Eligibility Cards to the tenant farmers as scheduled.
