Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday chaired a high-level meeting on law and order and ordered cancellation of leave of all police and administrative officials till the festive season was over, officials said.
In view of festivals like Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra and Muharram, he also asked the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure special vigil in busy markets and fairs during the festival period.
A state government spokesman said the Chief Minister also reviewed the situation and took necessary feedback from officials.
Stressing on the need to spruce up the intelligence network, the Chief Minister said all wings of the security establishment should establish good coordination among themselves and maintain strict vigil at important installations and deal with rumour mongers firmly.
The Chief Minister also ordered the officials responsible for law and order not to leave the state headquarters and issued instructions to cancel all leave of police personnel and administrative officials till Muharram.
Yadav also forewarned officials that in case an untoward incident takes place, responsibility of concerned officials will be fixed and stringent action would be taken against them.
The state is already on high alert following Thursday’s surgical strikes by the Indian Army on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC).
