At least seven people were killed and several others injured after a vehicle carrying labourers collided with a truck on the Tarapur-Wataman Highway in Gujarat’s Anand District on Monday.
The victims, most of whom were tribals from Madhya Pradesh, had come to Gujarat in search of work. The injured were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Doctor, Jayant Joshiyara, said severely injured victims have been shifted to another hospital.
“Seven people are dead and 10 to 11 people are severely injured whom we have shifted to another hospital after providing them with first aid. The rest five to seven people are being treated here only. We have come to know that they were tribals from Madhya Pradesh who had come here in search of work,” he said.
The dead included four males and three women, while the injured included five children.
Police inspector M. N. Pandor said the cause for the accident is being investigated. (ANI)
