Baghdad : At least eight people have been killed by suicide car bombing that targeted an army checkpoint in Baghdad, said the Iraqi officials.
A police officer said the bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the checkpoint near a commercial area in the northern Shia-dominated Shaab neighbourhood of the Iraqi capital on Monday morning, reports Dawn.
He said that five civilians and three soldiers were killed while 14 others were wounded.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, which bore all hallmarks of the militant Islamic State (IS) group.
The attack comes as the Iraqi forces are poised to push into Fallujah to retake the city west of Baghdad from the IS militants. (ANI)
