Cairo, April 20: An Egyptian government fact-finding mission today says at least 846 people were killed during the popular uprising that toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak.
The mission, consisting of a panel of judges, detailed in its report what it described as the excessive use of force by security forces in the face of growing mass protests, which kicked off on Jan 25.
The report said that security forces fired live ammunition, placed snipers on rooftops and used vehicles to run over protesters.
It added that more than 6,400 people were injured.
