More Smartphones leads in a row by launching new models with cheap prices in India. After selling a large quantity of Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A phones in India, Xiaomi is reportedly planning to launch the successors of all three very soon.
In the last couple of days, there have been several rumours about the Redmi 5, Redmi 5A and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and all of them suggest that all the three handsets will although boast a full-metal body design much like its successors, but, the camera and hardware may see a major refresh. While the specs were revealed earlier, a new leak hints at the price of the Redmi 5.
The leak suggests that the successor of the Redmi 4 will come in two variants, one with the 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the second variant may come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage set up. As per the pricing, to be specific, the Redmi 5 series of smartphones will be a little pricier than the Redmi 4 line-up phones.
The new leak suggests that the upcoming Redmi 5 3GB RAM variant will cost around $162, which is roughly around Rs 10,442, while the 4GB RAM will cost around $191, which estimates around Rs 12,311.
To recall, the Redmi 4 was launched in three variants: 2GB RAM/16GB storage, 3GB/32GB storage, and the last one be the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Where the 2GB RAM model is priced at Rs 6,999, 3GB variant is available at Rs 8,999, while the third model with 4GB RAM costs around Rs 10,999.
Apart from the pricing details, the leak also reveals a lot about the specs that Redmi 5 is expected to boast. It shows that the device may come with a 3,680mAh battery, which is much smaller than that of its predecessor Redmi 4, which is backed by a 4,100 mAh battery set up. The Redmi 5 is further said to come with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support.
Redmi 5 will look pretty much similar to that of the Redmi 4, and that being said the smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. Both the variants of the Redmi 5 — 3 GB and 4GB RAM — will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625, hints the new leak.
Renders of the successor of the Redmi 4 were leaked last week. However, they were not probably accurate as they showed a device with a polycarbonate body.
The device was also spotted at Chinese-certification agency, where Xiaomi products make their first appearance given the fact that China is the first market for the company. The listing revealed that Xiaomi’s new products, including Redmi 5, will yet again run an outdated version of Android that is Android Marshmallow. The device will also reportedly come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while on the front, the device may feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The listing further suggested that the smartphone may come in several colour variants like – gold, rose gold, matte black, and dark grey.
