Former MLA, Freedom Fighter and former Mayor of Hyderabad N. Laxminarayana Mudiraj, passed away this morning. He was 86.
Laxminarayana Mudiraj entered public life in 1954 and since then he was a staunch supporter of the Congress party. He was councilor in Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad for ten years from 1960 to 1970 and was leader of Municipal Congress party for two years from 1967 to 1969. During Telangana movement of 1969-70, he was in the forefront and as Mayor laid the foundation stone of Telangana Martyr Memorial at Gun Park under stringent prohibitory orders and was arrested and remanded to Jail.
He was elected as Congress MLA from Maharaj Gunj City Assembly Constituency in 1972 and he was general secretary of AP Timber Merchants Federation and Member of Federation of AP Chamber of Commerce Industry for several years.
TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and working president Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu expressed their deep condolences on the sudden demise of N. Laxminarayana Mudiraj. The Congress shall always remember his services to the party and people of Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. (NSS)
