Krishna has said that the law will take its own course
in fishermen killing case in which the crew of an Italian
ship fired at and killed two Indians off Kollam coast in
Kerala.
Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of Karnataka
Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Divisional level Meeting
here yesterday, Mr Krishna said ‘the law of the land will take its
own course in the incident where the crew of an Italian
ship ‘Enrica Lexie’ fired at and killed two Indian
fishermen (off Kollam coast in Kerala).’
Ajesh Binki hailing from Tamil Nadu and Gelastine of
Kerala were mistaken for pirates and shot dead by the crew
of an Italian ship on February 15 about 14 nautical miles
off Alappuzha.
Mr Krishna’s statement comes in the wake of Kochi
police reportedly starting interrogation of crew members
of Enrica Lexie over the killings.
Kochi Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar had reportedly
visited the vessel on February 18 and met the captain and
the crew. The crew was reportedly told to surrender or
face police action.
