Law of compulsory Education was presented by Islam

Hyderabad, October 24: Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) presented the law of compulsory education fourteen centuries ago. It was the law which had no age limit. It was meant for all. For children, men & women, it was compulsory to get educated. Due to his efforts no one was deprived of knowledge in an area of 10 lakh miles. These thoughts were expressed by famous Muslim scholar Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadvi, member of Muslim Personal Law Board in a meeting held at Eidgah Dargah Hazrath Ujalay Shah at Sayeedabad in the old city of Hyderabad yesterday.

He said that the children should certainly be educated but it is very regrettable the rulers of this country thought about it after 65 years of Independence. In this process the culture of America and Europe is being adopted. Where morality has become bankrupt and the world is robbing with tyranny.

Maulana Husaini said that this is a country of the saints and Sufis and hence we are not prepared to accept the culture of America. He said that education should be made public and popular but not the education of the counting which spreads pornography and prostitution among children.

Such education should be given which could benefit human beings. By getting education our children should respect their parents, teachers and elders and they should get good moral character Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) had given us the law of compulsory education for all. He had made it obligatory for everyone to get education.

He further said that ours is an independent country where nobody has any right to impose any ban on religious education. We demand that schools should be opened in each locality.

He told that because of not getting good education in Govt. schools, children are going to private schools Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani secretary of Muslim Religious school board said that the name “Right to Education” is a very beautiful name. If all the amendments proposed for this act which will make the Muslim Religious institutions to function. The act envisages that if the children are not educated, parents would be punished. The institutions which do not follow this act would be closed down.

The admission of boys can’t be prevented in a girls school under this act. The management of the schools should include 7% parents’ representatives and they should also include 50% women in the management. By adopting all such procedures our values would be tarnished. This act would ruin the Muslim society completely.

Another strange thing is that upto 8th standard no student should be detained in any class which would deteriorate the standard of education. Admission into any course would be based on age and not on the basis of level of education. This act causes an incision to Muslim Personal Law Mr. Mohammed Abdur Rahim Quraishi told that we are a living nation and hence we have get our rights recognized by the Govt.

He said that by introducing Direct Taxes Act, which makes it compulsory to pay 30% tax. Maulana Arifuddin appealed to the people to come forward for struggle. The meeting was largely attended by noted Muslim scholars.
