Hyderabad, June 22: The Indian Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar is all set to replicate the past by rendering a new song, Daata Sun Maula Sun… for Percept Picture Company & Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Jail.
The queen of melody recorded the song for the film on June 5. This song is said to be like a new version of the exceedingly famous old number Ae maalik tere bande hum… It is a prayer that is sung in Jail. The music and composition of Daata Sun Maula Sun is by Music maestro Shamir Tandon.
After Page 3’s success Lata, Madhur Bhandarkar and Shamir Tandon have come together after a long time. Madhur feels really honoured with Lataji’s gesture as she drove all the way from town to record only for Madhur’s film. Lataji has recorded a song after a very long span infact. Madhur comments — “Jail will become sanctified with her presence.” The track Daata Sun Maula Sun” is being sung for the movie which takes a look at the life of prisoners.
Lataji has been a pioneer in Hindi Film industry for her stupendous contribution and the startling quality of song that have raised the bars for all the cohort of music. The Nightingale also shared a fraternal tie with the late singer Mukesh, the grandfather of the hero of the film, Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Lata’s eternal song, “Ae Maalik tere bande hum” was the actual piece of music that Madhur wanted to record with Lataji but then they landed up mounting a brand new song to create the same wonder what the former had done.
Madhur Bhandarkar is very excited and at the same time Honored at this gesture of Lataji and says, “Her singing in Jail will be a blessing to all allied with the film. I am greatful that Lataji approved to be a massive part of my films earlier in Page 3 and now in Jail. She has that capacity to turn a song in living experience.
I am very contented that she accepted a song in Jail. I am just hoping that even this song smashes the record and listeners love them. Lata ji came all away from the town to just record for my film. In fact she has recorded for a song after pretty long span. I am really moved by Lata Didi’s this gesture and seek her blessings, hoping Jail’s tremendous success like Page 3.” Lataji says that she is very fond of Madhur Bhandarkar’s films and would always sing for Madhur films in future too. “Madhur makes a very different kind of cinema. I always like to sing the kind of songs he approaches me with and will always keep singing for Madhur’s films. I wish him all the luck for Jail,” she adds.
Jail is a sensitive tale of an ordinary man Parag Dixit, played by Neil Nitin Mukesh, who finds himself inside the four walls of a prison thanks to a series of unfortunate events around him. The whole film is from his point of view and tells the stories of several other inmates of the prison. Some of these are under trials, convicts and also the cops who are in charge of maintaining the order in the prison. Jail gives a ringside view of the world that exists inside the walls of the prison spread across our country. The film also casts Mughda Godse and Manoj Bajpai in pivotal roles.
