Thane, March 31: Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar will be felicitated at a function here for her contribution to the music world on April 24, her father`s 69th death anniversary.
Addressing a press conference here, local MLA Pratap Sarnaik said the Deenanath Mangeshkar was a exceptional Hindustani classical vocalist and Marathi theatre actor.
He said the city will observe his death anniversary with the members of the Mangeshkar family in Thane in a grand function.
Sarnaik said Lata will be visiting the city after a gap of 25 years after 1986, when she was here to participate in a programme.
City Mayor Ashok Vaity will be felicitating her on the occasion. A music programme has also been organised titled `Amhi Mangeshkar` at the Dadoji Konddeo Stadium which will be free for all.
The day happens to be the birthday of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who is also likely to be present for the function, the leader said.
Sarnaik said he held a meeting with the veteran playback singer on Friday and discussed the programme following which she gave her consent to be present for the function.
