Lucknow, August 11: Will the UP chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta also face the heat on the alleged Noida land scandal by UP Chief Minister Mayawati.
Mayawati has already suspended 16 senior officials including three IAS and has also ordered for registration of criminal cases against them for causing a revenue loss of over Rs 4,000 crore to the state by favouring the hoteliers who were allotted land in the MSY regime in 2006.
Atul Kumar Gupta, who was holding the post of Industrial Development Commissioner when the institutional plots were allotted to the hoteliers, and had been instrumental in the process for being a member of the Noida in 2007. When Mayawati became chief minister, she ordered an inquiry into the alleged land scandal and Gupta, as IDC inquired into the irregularities and submitted the report, which was kept pending at the high level and the hoteliers were fighting their cases in the courts.
On August 10, the chief minister suspended three IAS officers Sanjiv Sharan, K.Ravindra Naiyyar and Rakesh Bahadur for holding different positions in the Noida and for being involved in the scandalous allotments.
The chief secretary, Atul Kumar Gupta may be in trouble for two reasons: firstly he himself was a member of the Noida when the alleged scandal took place and secondly , why action against the erring officer was delayed for two years .”The investigations would cover everyone who had any role in the land allotment “informed the additional cabinet secretary Vijay Shankar Pandey.
