Machilipatnam: Andhra Pradesh government will soon start acquiring land for the proposed Machilipatnam Port and Industrial Corridor (MPIC) through land pooling and notification to this effect will be issued on Monday, a state minister said here today.
The state Cabinet had yesterday decided to pool 1.05 lakh acres of land for MPIC.
“The state government has decided to begin the land pooling exercise from July end or in the first week of August for Machilipatnam deep sea port and industrial corridor. The pooling for the project would be completed by July 2017,” he said.
“The land would be pooled by Machilipatnam Area Development Authority (MADA) in 29 villages spread over 426 square km and the government would give 1,000 sq. yards of residential plot and 250 sq. yards of commercial plot to land owners,” the Minister said.
He said the state government has allocated special grants and deputed technical staff for the land survey to be taken up by MADA.
