Land grabbing alleged in Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad, April 19: A plot of the Women’s Cooperative Housing Society, Jubilee Hills, which is fighting a case with the State Government in the Supreme Court over ownership rights, is alleged to have been sold off through devious means and official connivance.

Neeraja Rao, claiming to be owner of plot no.10 (472 sq. yard plot on Road No.2) of the society, has charged that the property inherited from her parents, has been illegally transferred to a different person recently through fraudulent means under the influence of big politicians.

She said an old bungalow standing on the plot was demolished and construction for a modern building was been taken up without her knowledge recently. She took up the case to senior officials in the Revenue Department as well the GHMC where she realised to her utter shock that the plot was registered in a different name.

“How can the Collector regularise a private property under dispute?” asked Ms. Rao.

The High Court has ruled in the society’s favour following which a writ petition was filed by the government in the Supreme Court.

“This is complete abuse of the law and the government machinery,” she alleged and also expressed a threat to her family’s life.
