Water bodies including rivers, canals, lakes and wetlands of in and around Hyderabad have continuously been grabbed by influential land grabbers backed by government officials.
At the time when the entire government force was busy preparing for Independence Day and collecting data for Intensive Household Survey land sharks were busy gobbling up a large part of land adjacent to Shamshan Ghat in Musi River. Loads of soil was being heaped up on the vast land of Musi River abutting Hindu burial ground, to level the land and eat it away.
While the land grabbers are busy eating away the 2 acre land on Bahadur Pura to Puranapul stretch the municipal corporation was in deep slumber. Although the MRO office and police station both are located at a very short distance from the site in question, it seems that officials of both the departments deliberately turned a blind eye to the encroachment.
