(Siasat News) Govt. of A.P. is of the opinion that the limits of Land ceiling cannot be reduced. This report will be sent to Central Govt. Mr. Raghu Veera Reddy, Revenue Minister told this to newsmen at the end of all party meeting tell yesterday. He informed that A.P. state is ahead of all others states in the country in land distribution to poor people and also in protecting the rights of agricultural tenants. He informed that a comprehensive action plan has been finalized to distribute 1.3 lakh acres land to poor people.
The Minister informed that earlier there used to be a post of Commissioner of Land Reforms at the state level which was abandoned. Govt. is reconsidering to revive it. He informed that as per the revised land reforms policy of the Central Govt. every house hold should get 5 to 10 acres wet land and 10 to 15 acres of dry land. Despite this recommendations, it is not possible for the State Govt. to amend its land ceiling policy of 1973 because it is not possible to reduce the lands pertaining to Hindu Endowment and Wakf.
Clarifying the position of land distribution, the Minister said that the lands devoted for religious purposes cannot be reduced. He further told that the State Govt. is implementing the recommendations of Koneru Ranga Rao Committee. He informed that for determining the limits of land ceiling, a scientific review is needed. The facilities for irrigation and other benefits should also be taken into consideration while distribution lands.
