Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Tariq Anwar on Wednesday alleged that ‘everybody’ is against the ‘anti-farmer’ Land Acquisition bill, adding that the proposed law would cause difficulties for the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre.
“The Land Acquisition bill is a very controversial ordinance and I believe that in the near future, it will be a great problem for the Central government. While the Shiv Sena chose to vote against the BJP on the bill in the Lok Sabha, the other allies chose to take a ‘neutral’ path. Everyone feels that the bill is anti-farmer,” he said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agrawal said that the bill can be amended further to make it more ‘farmer-friendly’.
“Yesterday, while the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, certain amendments were made, but we feel this bill can still be more farmer-friendly. If any part of the bill is anti- farmer, then the SP will not support it,” he said.
On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha passed the Land Acquisition Bill of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government at the Centre via a voice vote. Nine amendments to the bill have been adopted. (ANI)
