Legal Advisory Committee appointed by Central Wakf Council has assured its full cooperation in Lanco Hills case which is pending in Supreme Court. A meeting of the committee was held in Hyderabad yesterday in which the progress of Lanco Hills case was reviewed. In addition to this, review was also made in respect of major wakf land cases and details were obtained.
Justice Bilal Nazuki, Justice Hyder Abbas Raza and Supreme Court Lawyers Shakeel Ahmed Syed and Iqbal Shaik arrived in Hyderabad with Secretary of Central Wakf Council, Mr. Ali Ahmed Khan to review the progress of these cases. They met Special Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Mr. Syed Gulam Afzal Biyabani, former Chairman of A.P. State Wakf Board, Mr. M.A. Gaffar, CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Sultan Mohiuddin, Deputy Secretary of Wakf Board and the representatives of the Mutawalli of Dargah Committee of Hazrath Husain Shah Wali. The meeting continued for the whole day in which the progress made by Wakf Board in Lanco Hills case was reviewed. The members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction on the arguments presented in Supreme Court by Wakf Board lawyers.
It is reported that Mr. Shafeeq-ur-Rahman Mahajir, Wakf Board Lawyer apprised the members of the Legal Advisory Committee of the details of the decisions of High Court pronounced in favour of Wakf Board.
It was reported that the Committee was informed that the Supreme Court has issued orders to Lanco Hills to specify in any transaction made by it that the matter pertaining to the ownership of the land is subjudice and the registration of the property is subject to the judgment of the Supreme Court.
The committee was told that Wakf Board has engaged noted and competent Supreme Court lawyers. The possibilities of associating Central Wakf Council as a party in the Supreme Court were also explored. The former chairman of Wakf Board, Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani gave the details of Major other wakf properties in addition to Lanco Hills property. The members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction over the progress of the case in Supreme Court and assured every possible help in this regard and also in other cases. The former Chairman requested the members of the committee to tender their advise in other cases also so that the stand of Wakf Board gets strengthened.
Minorities Welfare Minister, Mr. S.M. Ahmedullah also met the member of the committee and apprised them of the steps taken by the State Govt. for the protection of wakf properties. The members of the Committee expressed the view that the question of any settlement of the case outside the court has no legal sanctity as per the Wakf act.
