New Delhi: Several properties linked to Nirav Modi, the jewellery designer had been seized by the enforcement directorate.
The ED had conducted searches on Nirav Modi’s home and offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Surat and seized gold, diamond and jewellery worth Rs. 5100 crore.
After a complaint was filed by the Punjab National bank, the raids were conducted, also the agency had filed Rs 280 crore money laundering case against Modi, his wife Ami brother Nishal and business partner Mehul Choksi.

What is more ironic is that, Nirav Modi was seen with PM Modi in a group photo at World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to the news reported in NDTV, the Congress accused PM Modi of helping “Chhota Modi” escape the country though he had been aware of a scam since 2016, when a whistleblower wrote to him on Nirav Modi’s uncle Mehul Choksi and warned that he would leave the country.
On January 29, a complaint was filed by the CBI against Nirav Modi for his involvement in the scam, though he fled the country on January 1.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned the integrity of the government and he tweeted that “Is it possible to believe that he or (businessman) Vijay Mallya left the country without the active connivance of BJP government?”

In another tweet, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that “42 FIRs sent to PMO on 26 July 2016, PMO acknowledged too. But no action,” he tweeted, adding that Modi was seen with PM Modi in Davos. “And now he has fled. Why PMO did not take action,” he asked. “Why he was allowed to flee India (sic)?”.
Another leader of AAP, Ashutosh tweeted “Nirav Modi can’t be seen photographed with PM Modi unless every one present in the pic are scanned and approved by PMO (sic),” Ashutosh tweeted. “If PMO knew about the FIRs against Nirav Modi then why he was allowed to be in picture! Its clear man has access to the top! (sic).”
The FIR filed by the CBI has alleged that “The public servants committed abuse of official position to cause pecuniary advantage to Diamond R US, Solar Exports, Stellar Diamonds and a wrongful loss of Rs 280.70 crore to Punjab National Bank during 2017.”
Meanwhile, actress Priyanka Chopra who was also featured in an advertisement campaigns for jewellery designer Nirav Modi is also seeking legal opinion to terminate her contract with the brand.
Nirav Modi had left the country on January 1 and was seen with PM Modi and other business leaders on January 23 at Davos Summit.
However, Nirav Modi was spotted with his wife at a suite in JW Marriott Essex House New York, which is close to his luxurious NIRAV MODI jewelry boutique at Madison Ave.
