New Delhi: RJD chief Lalu Prasad daughter Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha member and son-in-law Shailesh Kumar came under I-T scanner.
The Income Tax department on Monday seized benami property belonging Misa Bharati,Shailesh Kumar and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav.
Misa failed to appear, the IT department despite of issuing two summonses which were proceeded to seize the properties raided in May.
The I-T Department has summoned Shailesh Kumar, in connection with the benami assets and tax evasion case registered against him. Then on June 7, the IT department slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 against Shailesh on account of not appearing for interrogation.
Officials in its summons reportedly said it wishes to question Misa and her husband on transactions conducted by M/s Mishail Packers and Printers Private Limited.
The raids were conducted on at least 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas on charges of alleged benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and others.
As per Benami Act, the explanation must be given within the time period failing which the initiating officer may hold the property for 90 days from the date of issue of the notice.
