New Delhi: The RJD state and national parliamentary boards authorised party supremo Lalu Prasad to select candidates for Rajya Sabha and Bihar Legislative Council. A meeting of the state parliamentary board was convened at Rabri Devi’s residence earlier in the day where the members unanimously decided to entrust the RJD supremo to take a final call on selection of candidates for the Rajya Sabha and Bihar Legislative Council polls next month, state cooperative minister Alok Kumar Mehta told PTI.
A second meeting of the RJD’s national parliamentary board was convened later in the day where a resolution was adopted by all members approving the authorisation of Lalu Prasad to take a final decision on selection of candidates for the biennial polls of Rajya Sabha and Bihar Legislative Council, he said.
It may mentioned that given its strength of 80 legislators in the Bihar Assembly, RJD can stake claim for a maximum of two out of five Rajya seats and three out of seven Legislative Council seats, the election for which will be held next month, if necessary.
