The Supreme Court on Friday will hear the bail plea of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the multi-crore fodder scam case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam, before whom the matter was mentioned by senior advocate P H Parekh, will hear the case today. The bail application was filed on Monday.
Lalu, whose Parliament membership was taken away after being convicted in the case, moved the apex court challenging the order of the Jharkhand High Court which had dismissed his bail plea.
Faulting the high court order, Lalu Prasad in his petition has said that fellow accused RK Rana who too was convicted for the same offence as he was and awarded five years rigorous imprisonment was granted bail six days before his bail plea was rejected.
