Gopalganj, September 24: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today hit out at the Congress holding it responsible for the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, barely three days after praising the party and its president Sonia Gandhi and desiring to have ties with it in Jharkhand and Bihar. “The prices of essential commodities are soaring day by day and the Congress has proved inefficient and ineffective to contain them,” Prasad told newspersons here.
He was here to offer prayers at a temple in his ancestral house at Fulwaria in Gopalganj district. On Sunday, he had praised Gandhi and her party saying the RJD had shared a strong bond with them for a long time.
He had also called for an alliance between RJD and Congress in Jharkhand and Bihar. Referring to the result of the recent assembly by-poll in Bihar, Prasad claimed that it proved “beyond doubt” that the people had made up their minds to bid farewell to the Nitish Kumar government in the 2010 election.
“Nitish Kumar took the by-polls as a practice match which led to the NDA perform poorly. We (RJD-LJP) treated the bypoll as semi-final and won.
We consider 2010 assembly polls in Bihar as final and we are sure of winning,” he asserted. Claiming that kidnappings, murders and loots have become the order of the day as the state administration has failed to control law and order, he said the RJD-LJP front has geared itself up to replace the “fascist and communal” government with people”s support.
