Lakshminarayana denies joining BJP; Rubbishes reports

Former Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, Hyderabad V V Lakshminarayana here on Friday said news reports about his joining Bharatiya Janata Party are far from truth. He emphatically said he was neither interested nor joining politics and the reports to that effect were concocted.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Lakshminarayana said reports were appearing in the media that he was plunging into politics. Such reports are totally false and the media was fabricating such things for sensationalism only.

It may be mentioned here that Lakshminarayana, who attained immense popularity by supervising investigation into the sensational cases like Obulapuram Mines scandal and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s illegal assets, had reportedly received feelers from the BJP to join that party. Recently there were reports that the CBI officer was also invited to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Now it is being said the BJP has been trying to rope Lakshminarayana into the saffron party.

Lakshminarayana, who belongs to the Maharashtra cadre, worked as CBI Joint Director in Hyderabad on deputation. After end of his deputation in Andhra Pradesh, the Maharashtra government kept him in waiting for new posting for nine months. Only recently, Lakshminarayana was posted as Joint Commissioner of Thane Police.

According to reports, of late, Lakshminarayana has been participating in various programs in Andhra Pradesh. He was also reportedly approached by the Aad Aadmi Party leaders and sought his opinion on several issues. He was also invited to join that fledgling party, which wrested power in Delhi Assembly elections and sending shockwaves to the established political parties. Informed sources said the officer’s confidants reportedly advised him to join the BJP. (NSS)
