The much-hyped Khairatabad Ganesh idol immersion is likely to take place on Monday afternoon or night instead of Sunday night.
Works related to lifting the biggest Ganesh Idol onto a separately bedecked trolley vehicle are nearing completion. Lakhs of devotees thronged the venue to have a glimpse of the idol and participated in pujas while media men found it a big task to cover the mega event. Measuring 59 ft tall, this Ganesh idol is holding 6000 kg laddu on his hand that will be distributed among the devotees on September 30.
According to the information, police officials would allow Khairatabad Ganesh procession only after most of the others are immersed without any disturbance. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said as of now processions are going on smoothly with CC cameras and tight security. DCP Kamalasan Reddy made it clear that the Khairatabad Ganesh idol will be taken in procession late in the night and may be immersed into the Hussain Sagar lake by Monday afternoon or evening. (NSS)
