Lakhs of Students get professional education at concessional rates-Minister of I.T.

Minister of Information Technology, Mr. Ponala Lakshmaiah told that we have witnessed agricultural revolution, industrial revolution, electronic revolution and the revolution of Information Technology but the greatest revolution, which will affect humanity at international level, will be educational revolution.

Mr. Lakshmaiah was addressing the inaugural session of Indo-Global Summit 2012. He told that when he used to go to school, the purpose of education was confined to completion of school syllabus and curriculum. There used to be a set of textbooks and a fixed set of slides which the teachers’ used to show. Today, the student doesn’t have to go to school or college to acquire knowledge. He can access Internet, Google or any social network. If the Universities or colleges want to be distinct and different from all these communication networks, they have to excel in the field of education by adopting innovative and creative methods. They should equip their students to enable him to become innovative industrialists or technocrats. They should be able to acquire the latest knowledge so that they could prove to be useful for the community or society.

Mr. Lakshmaiah told that A.P. State produces 2.75 Lakh engineers every year. Our state didn’t make professional education a problem and a difficult task. Lakhs of Students are getting free professional education. He feels that there will be chaos in the field of education in the years to come.

Course material of M.I.T., N.P.T.E.L. Khan Academy is available on websites. Educational Software is available on smart phones. One can’t neglect all these developments. All these point to the changes in the methodology of teaching for the future. It is quite likely that there won’t be any need for the teacher and the traditional method of teaching. In the future, E Learning, Satellite Education etc. would emerge in the field of education as alternatives to teaching. These methodologies are likely to affect the educational scenario in the future.

Mr. Justice G.Raghuram of A.P. High Court told that the degrees and certificates obtained by the students don’t guarantee jobs for them because these students do not prove worthy of the degrees and they lack the required competence. We should, therefore, pay attention to improve the quality and standard of education.
