The Telangana Congress party has alleged that names of several lakhs of voters in the Greater Hyderabad city were removed at the instance of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, former MLA from Sanathnagar Marri Shashidhar Reddy hailed the Central Election Commission for responding to their complaint and sending a fact-finding team to the State.
Alleging that State Election Commissioner Banwar Lal and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar had deleted the names of lakhs of voters from the GHMC voters lists at the behest of the Chief Minister, Shashidhar Reddy demanded that the CEC initiate stern action against the two high-placed burocrats. He also warned his party would not tolerate if the lower level officials were made scapegoats in this murky affair. (NSS)
