Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao today directed that soil removed from lakes after their restoration should be shifted to farm lands followed by a soil test.
Harish Rao held a review meeting at Nizamabad Zilla Parishad office attended by Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy and Nizamabad MP Kavitha. The minister asked the Agriculture, Revenue and Forest departments to coordinate to restore 46,531 lakes on a war-footing. The Government is committed for lakes restoration project and all the departments should coordinate, he said. Involvement of people is key for the project besides coordination of officials which will prove handy for restoring 46,531 lakes in a phased manner. The government will extend all cooperation to take up on war footing the works related to restoration of lakes, water bodies and ponds in the state.
Harish Rao promised to provide drinking water and better road connectivity to all villages and towns. He also expressed concern that the farmers are not able to go in for harvesting new crops as the bore wells and wells have gone dry.
