Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal here on Tuesday blamed the Telugu Desam party for the likely division of the State.
Speaking to the media, Lagadapati said the pressure on the Union government on Telangana State formation had increased only after the TDP submitted a letter expressing its willingness to division of the State.
Stating that once the Seemandhra TDP leaders were ready for “anything” to stop bifurcation of the State, Lagadapati said their voice against division of the State was gagged now. He also said most of the Congress MPs in the Seemandhra region were dead against separate Telangana. He also lamented that the YSR Congress Party had taken a stand that the Centre alone had the power to either divide the State or not.
Lagadapati said a resolution on Telangana would certainly fail on the floor of the Assembly whenever it was introduced. It will meet the fate of Women’s Bill in the Assembly as well as in Parliament, he added. Stating that State bifurcation issue was hanging on heads of people like a Democles Sword, Lagadapati said he would quit politics if State was divided. (NSS)
