Lady teacher stabs Bihar MLA to death

Purnia, January 04: In a sensational development, BJP MLA from Purnia Raj Kishore Kesari was on Tuesday stabbed to death by a lady who had earlier accused him of rape.

As per reports, the lady, identified as Poonam Pathak, walked into Kesari’s house this morning at the pretence of wanting to meet him and as soon as she came within the attacking distance, she pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the stomach.

Kesari was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors who attended him. The attack has put a question mark on the security provided to the MLAs in Bihar.

Poonam is a teacher by profession and runs a school in Purnia city. She had, in the last week of May, accused Kesari of raping her and filed an FIR against him.

But the police had not yet taken any action against the MLA – probably the reason she decided to take the drastic step of murdering Kesari.

Unconfirmed reports also claimed that, following her attacking Kesari, his supporters physically assaulted her. She is said to be battling for life at the hospital.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked the DIG of the range to investigate the matter and submit a report.

Meanwhile, Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi is heading to Purnia to take stock of the situation.
