Disappointed over her husband not taking her for a movie as promised, a 23 year-old newly married woman constable in the Armed Reserve police here committed suicide at her residence ner Tambaram area here. According to police, the policewoman, Dhanalakshmi, married six months back, took the extreme step late last night after waiting for her husband, for them to go for a movie. However, when he did not turn up on time, she took the extreme step. Her husband,Ganesan, who was also a constable, asked her to come home early promising that he would take her to a film. Both were working in the city police commissioner’s office at Egmore in the city. When the constable returned home late in the night, he was shocked to find Dhanalakshmi hanging. He rushed her to a private hospital in the area. But the doctors there declared she was brought dead. Delayur poice, who registered a cae, were questioning the man. UNI
