The Commissionerate of Labour has allowed all the shops and establishments to remain open beyond stipulated timings during the month of holy Ramzan starting from June 18.
The Labour Department has directed that over time wages shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of Sec.37 of the Act, (wages at twice the ordinary rate of wages beyond 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week). Compensatory Holiday shall be given to the employees who work on Sunday or Festival holidays. Further, the spread over period of work shall not exceed 13 hours of work on any day including Sunday. The women employees have been exempted from the extra hours of work and no women employee shall be allowed to work after 8 PM. (INN)
