Kuwait, August 13: Kuwait Airways customers will enjoy extensive fare discounts of up to 70 percent throughout the Holy month of Ramadan. Bader Al-Amiri, Kuwait Airways’ Senior Regional Director, revealed the news about the fare reductions at the launch of the airline’s Ramadan promotion, which was held at the Sheraton Hotel yesterday. The event was attended by several representatives of local travel agencies and others among the airline’s business partners.
Al-Amiri said that the Ramadan promotion will last one month (16-August to 17 September) and will benefit not just customers but the airline’s local travel partners. In addition to the 70 percent discounts, KAC we also allow passengers more than 45 kilograms of baggage per person, Al-Amiri said.
We will also allow a change in the booking for a KD 5 fee,” he explained. In his words, KAC will provide a 40 to 50 percent discount to the head of the family; “For example, if [the family head] pays his own fare, the next passenger will get a 50 percent discount as well. This will only happen during the entire month of Ramadan.
The global recession has affected airlines around the world and the Middle East, who were also facing stiff competition from several new budget airlines. “We’ll do everything to get passengers back on their feet and enjoying Ramadan-related travels. We have to accept the fact that we are all affected by the global financial crisis and that passengers nowadays want a great travel experience. We provide that, as well as great discounts for air tickets,” Al-Amiri said.
Kuwait Airways Ramadan promotion includes offers of sizable incentives (bonuses) for the airline’s partner travel agents in Kuwait. “If they hit the target for a year, we’ll give them five percent more incentives. We need each other, especially during this time of global meltdown. If they give us good business, in return we’ll give them more bonus incentives,” he said.
According to Omar Salem, Kuwait Airways’ Tariff and Pricing Specialist, the Ramadan promotion was offered to Kuwait’s customer to play fair with other airlines at a time of global crisis. “We have to face the fact that we are affected by the global crisis. The flow of traffic from Kuwait has fallen tremendously since the crisis began, so demand is less than capacity, especially when compared to last year when the demand was far more than the capacity.
At this time, we need some more attractions similar to other airlines, so we’re offering this Ramadan promotion. We have the same service and if we don’t give customers what they want, they’ll abandon us; we have to protect our customers,” he emphasized. “If we don’t reduce our prices, the airline will be in trouble.
