KTR urges Centre to set up data bank on Gulf migrants

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held a special meeting on Gulf migrant issue and Minister K T Rama Rao gave a presentation on the vision of Telangana government and Gulf migrants issue.

Minister KTR suggested the central government to establish a centralized data bank of the Gulf migrants and he also suggested to give a feasibility to share the data among all states to identify who is going to gulf countries. Minister also suggested to appoint Telugu language translator at all embassy offices in all Gulf nations

 

Minister requested central government to come up with a specific policy for legal assistance by recruiting the settled Indian origin lawyers and also suggested to enter into an agreement with all Gulf nations to allow the Indian migrant prisoners to complete the sentence in Indian jails. Few companies are unlawfully taking away the passport of Indian migrants , Minister requested Sushma Swaraj to raise this issue as a Human rights violation.

 

Minister told MEA to establish the E-Sanad faceless, cashless contact and digital facilities. This E-SANAD system will be inaugurated in Hyderabad in the third week of this month. MEA – state collaborated Gulf migrants outreach program will be started from Hyderabad on 13th of this month,

 

Minister KTR requested MEA to form the group of ministers to discuss and emulate the best practices among the states such as issuing passports, welfare activities for the gulf migrants. Minister Sushma Swaraj assured the minister to form the Group of ministers, which will meet once in three months to discuss the migrant issues.

 

This meeting was attended by two central ministers and ambassadors from Kuwait, Malaysia, ,Saudi Arabia, UAE ,Oman ,Qatar and Bahrain (NSS)
