Industries and Mining Minister KT Rama Rao today cracked the whip suspending two officials of Mining department at a private land in Gudibanda area in Mahbubnagar district as alleged irregularities were brought to light.
At a high level review meeting on mining across the state and reports of some irregularities, KTR asked the officials to suspend Assistant Director Krishna Prathap and Royalty Inspector Ravikumar and replace them with regular officials to monitor the sand mining.
The officials monitoring the sand mining in various districts of Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karimnagar and found that at Gudibanda area irregularities that 60,000 cubic meters of sand was mined against the 1950 cubic meters of sand permitted. Reacting on the issue, KTR asked the officials to suspend the sand reach and the two officials immediately and directed to cancel the sand reach and legal action against the contractor.
The Minister also asked for field level inspections by a high level official team to check the irregularities and take spot decision against those involved in illegal sand mining. KTR further stated that the government is committed to protect mining which is national asset should be spent for people welfare. The Minister warned to take stringent measures against officials and staff for involving in any corruption, irregularities and slapping a heavy penalty on the contractors for irregularities in the sand mining.
