Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakrama Rao has directed the GHMC, Electricity, traffic and other departments concerned to have a coordination to resolve people’s problems arisen due to heavy rains on Thursday night that lashed the city.
KTR, who is participating in election campaigning in Palair, spoke with GHMC and HMD Commissioners reviewed the works taken up to restore facilities that damaged due to heavy rains last night. He suggested them to have a permanent mechanism in coordination with concerned departments to deal effectively with such situation in future .
GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy informed the minister about the measures being taken in the city. He informed the minister that about 300 trees were uprooted and waterlogging complaints were received from 230 places due to last night heavy rains. The Commissioner also informed KTR that all precautions have been taken to restore power supply in the areas where supply was disrupted. He said almost all works affected due to rains have been completed in the city.
The GHMC Commissioner informed the minister that all uprooted trees have been cleared with the help of disaster management personnel since morning. The minister appreciated the Commissioner, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, corporators and officials, who worked since morning to restore the facilities. (NSS)
