Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao is most likely to replace his father and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
As per the party sources, KCR has decided to step down to focus fully on the government so that he could fulfill all the promises made in the election manifesto.
He was not in a position to focus both on the party as well as the government and it’s time he hands over the party reins to another capable hand, according to his close confidants.
The seniors understood and suggested that KTR would be the ideal choice to deal with the party affairs since he commands a lot of respect among the cadre as KCR’s son.
According to sources, the anointment of KTR as the TRS president is expected to be done at the party plenary which is going to be held in the city on April 24.
He sensed that the party was pretty weak in south Telangana districts of Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Hyderabad districts, which was evident from the result of recent MLC elections. At this stage, it would be risky to go in for the GHMC elections.
