Praising Rio Olympics silver medalist Sindhu as nation’s pride, IT & Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao today vouched for rolling out a new Sports Policy in the State.
KTR felicitated Sindhu and her coach Pullela Gopichand at Gachchi Bowli stadium here on Monday. KTR maintained that the Telangana Government will come out with a Sports Policy that will be a role model for the country. He also praised Sindhu and Sakhsi Malik for making India proud through their performances at Rio Olympics in spite of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao” slogan. “Indeed, these two girls protected India’s honour at Olympics”, KTR quipped. He said Sindhu made the country proud at world level and the Telangana Government stood No. 1 in the country through various schemes and policies and will come out with model sports policy in the country”, KTR remarked.
The State government is all set to send a sizeable number of sportspersons to international competitions, he said, adding that Sindhu took every pain and sacrificed personal life to reach this zenith of Rio medal. The State government will focus on developing the games and sports to send many such sportspersons to win more medals in Olympics, he added. (NSS)
